Hi Families!
Happy October! One month down. We have had such an amazing first month and it has been great to get to know all of your students.
Here are some reminders:
- Please make sure your student is bringing in a water bottle and snack every day.
- Students should be reading their good fit book every night and getting their bookmarks signed. This is one way for them to get five yards and eventually get a touchdown!
- You can also sign your student's planner for an additional five yards! This lets me know they are discussing what they are doing in school with you.
- Conferences are coming up! Please sign up for conferences if you haven't already. The link will be below.
- I am still waiting for a few submissions for the Getting to Know You Google form. If you haven't already, please fill this out. The link will be below. This helps me learn more about your child and what goals you have for them in fourth grade.
Thank you to everyone who sent in snack donations! We have been doing a great job bringing in snack every day, but it is helpful to have in case someone forgets.
Conferences are in a couple of weeks! The kids have been working hard on their slides and are excited to show you. Here is the link for signing up for conferences. If you need an alternate time or day, please let me know and we can arrange that.
Laps for Lincoln starts this week! Our PTO led the assembly last week to get kids excited and explain how it works. We are hopeful for a great turn out :)
This Weeks Academic Focus:
Math: We will be finishing up Unit 1 and start Unit 2. There will be a quiz on Monday regarding factors and multiples. I sent home all of their cool downs and the review. It may be helpful to look those over. Unit 2 involves comparing and ordering fraction sizes.
Reading: Reading assessments are almost done! Using the data from the Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments, NWEA, and conferring conferences, I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. I also will continue reading "Because Of Winn Dixie" and modeling and teaching different reading strategies.
Writing: We will begin focusing on sentence structures and brainstorming ideas for writing.
Science: We will continue our unit on The Human Machine.
Social Studies: Our focus will be on Science this week. Once we begin Social Studies, it will be Foundational Social Studies on "Thinking Like a Historian, Geographer, Political Scientist, and Economist".
