Hi families!

Thank you for your participation in our student led conferences! Our 4th graders did an awesome job creating their goals and presenting them to you. I am very proud of them all :)

Laps for Lincoln was also a giant success! Thank you for all of your support and participation.

Student Council: Students who are interested in Student Council will need to have completed the link on Google Classrooms. Week of Oct. 17-21: Students may create two posters at home. One to put in our classroom and one in the hallway, if they would like. Students will prepare a short speech at home (no more than 2 minutes) about why they want to be a part of the student council. They will have until Friday, October 21st to prepare their posters to present to your classroom. We will be taking two representatives from each of your classrooms, one boy and one girl. Your class will vote on Friday, October 21st through a Google Form that will be sent to our classroom, based on the kids that signed up.

Snack: I have decided to just allow students a second snack in the day whenever they need it. They can just let me know when they need it, and go grab it from their locker. We will still have our one snack time at 10:35, but won't have a designated time for the second snack. We do have a long morning before lunch, so if your child has mentioned that they get hungry throughout the day, feel free to send them with an extra snack. They just won't be able to eat a snack during any computer time. If you are able/willing to send in snack donations for the class, that would be very much appreciated. This will just be for students who need a snack and forgot to bring one. Let me know if you have any questions! Thank you.

Here is the link for the Fall Party Volunteer Form if you would like to volunteer. If you would like to bring a snack, please keep in mind that we have tree nut and peanut allergies in our classroom. Please make sure everything has a food label/ingredient list. The party will be held on October 31st.

This week in academics:

Reading: Using the data from the Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments, NWEA, and conferring conferences, I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". We will be wrapping up Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo soon!  These mini-lessons are used as a  focus for many reading strategies.

Writing: We will be working on sentence structure and personal narratives!

Math: Unit 2, Students have been working on equivalent fractions, and comparing and ordering fractions.

Science: We will be finishing up our science unit on Monday with the end of unit assessment.
