Hi families! 


We will continue M Step testing this week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00-12:00. Please consider making appointments around this time. Students can bring gum or mints for testing. 


Please read this letter from Principal Knuth:

As we prepare for our M-STEP  tests to begin next week, we would like to make you aware of important information regarding technology. Please note that during the M-STEP testing, all electronic devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, and Bluetooth headphones (or any headphones not used for testing), must be turned off and stored away from the work area.  Any devices not in backpacks will be collected by the teacher and stored in the teacher's area until testing is completed.

For those of you who are interested in having your child work on math at home, this week we will be doing Unit 7 lessons 6-10 this week. Practice using the IXL textbook would be beneficial to understanding this new concept of lines, angles, shapes, etc. before NWEA/MStep math testing next week.

The Sarett Field Trip will be this Thursday, from 10:30-12:00. We will have a snack at school before leaving, and return before lunch.  Students will explore the 4 different ecosystems that we have in Michigan. Everybody needs to dress for the weather and hiking. Parents are welcome to meet us there and join our hike! 

Please click this link for information on the Lansing field trip. There is a google form in the document if you would like to chaperone. So far we have 6 chaperones, and we do have room for more!

Hi Families!  Conferences are this week! Students have been working so hard on their slides and are excited to present them. Students will have a print out of the self reflection form they filled out, and they will go over this with you after the conference. Due to the short time we have together and the length of the slides, I will have you finish the conference slides in the hallway if we run out of time. I will have a desk set up in the hall with some chairs for you to finish. I will save five minutes for any questions you have or anything I need to mention. Thank you for understanding! Hi families!  We had such an amazing time at the track meet on Friday. The kids did a great job and had a lot of fun! Thank you to Ashley Spies for bringing and pulling the wagon with the kids water bottles. We all appreciate you!  I would also like to thank all of the students and parents for making my first teacher appreciation week a blast! Thank you so much for all of the treats, gifts, and notes, as well as the recess duty that was covered by parents. I definitely felt very appreciated :)  NWEA Reading will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday if needed. We will begin testing at 10:00, so please try to avoid scheduling appointments around that time. Students are allowed to bring in gum or mints, but they must stay in their locker until testing begins.  For those of you interested in having your child work on math at home, last week we completed unit 7 on geometry.   Hi families! Ice Skating Day will be this Thursday! We will start walking over to Howard Ice Arena at 9:40, and arrive at the rink around 9:55. Please make sure your student has warm clothes such as a coat, hat and gloves. Parents can meet us at the rink if you would like. We will need lots of help tying skates! Thank you! The Winter Party will be December 22nd from 11:45-12:45. A sign up sheet will be sent shortly.  Last week, I gave students their Unit 3 Math test to make corrections. I am still waiting for a couple students to take their test, so they will be sent home this week.  This Week:  Monday: Library Tuesday: Art Wednesday: Late Start/ No special  Thursday: PE, Ice Skating Day Friday: Music- Dress like a Grinch Day  Important Dates: Late Start: 12/14, 12/21 12/22: Winter Party, Ugly Sweater Day, Holiday Concert at SJHS 9:00-11:00 12/23: Winter Break starts, No School.
