Hi families! 


Thank you for all of your support and donations for Stuff-a-Truck! To celebrate all of the hard work, there will be a silly outfit day on Tuesday! 


 Report cards will be coming home on November 28th. It's important to keep in mind a couple of things. First, if your child is not a "3" the goal is to get there by the end of 4th grade. Students develop at their own pace! Second, students will continue to get individualized and group intervention in the areas below a "3" which is considered at grade level. Also, in math, and reading, there are ways to practice at home, which is probably necessary if the practice at school is not enough to master these goals. Students who are struggling with fractions need multiplication and division fluency. Please consider helping your child practice these facts to memory. In reading it's equally important for your child to read consistently a  book that is not too easy or too hard at his/her interest level. The research supports that if this happens at school and home, along with quality instruction at school, your child can become a lifelong reader. I look forward to continuing our work together! 


If your students chromebook gets sent home, please make sure it is returned the next day. We do use our computer for Lexia and writing every day, and it is difficult to get a chromebook from the media center. 


  This last week the playground was extremely muddy. If possible, I encourage students to bring an extra pair of pants, shoes, or boots just in case. It's just not possible for Mrs. Kauffman to call home for every student who may have a "muddy accident" on the playground. Unfortunately, we have several months ahead of weather that will create a messy playground. Thank you for your help!   


Our Winter Party will be on December 22nd. Here is the link to sign up to volunteer. If you believe you have already signed up but are not sure, just send me an email and I can check for you! 

    Our 4th-grade students worked extremely hard on achieving their individual learning goals! We all deserve a little time off.  Have a fantastic holiday break!

Hi Families!  Conferences are this week! Students have been working so hard on their slides and are excited to present them. Students will have a print out of the self reflection form they filled out, and they will go over this with you after the conference. Due to the short time we have together and the length of the slides, I will have you finish the conference slides in the hallway if we run out of time. I will have a desk set up in the hall with some chairs for you to finish. I will save five minutes for any questions you have or anything I need to mention. Thank you for understanding! Hi families!  We had such an amazing time at the track meet on Friday. The kids did a great job and had a lot of fun! Thank you to Ashley Spies for bringing and pulling the wagon with the kids water bottles. We all appreciate you!  I would also like to thank all of the students and parents for making my first teacher appreciation week a blast! Thank you so much for all of the treats, gifts, and notes, as well as the recess duty that was covered by parents. I definitely felt very appreciated :)  NWEA Reading will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday if needed. We will begin testing at 10:00, so please try to avoid scheduling appointments around that time. Students are allowed to bring in gum or mints, but they must stay in their locker until testing begins.  For those of you interested in having your child work on math at home, last week we completed unit 7 on geometry. This week we will begin unit 8/lessons 1-5. Practice using the IXL textbook would be beneficial....

  Hi families! Ice Skating Day will be this Thursday! We will start walking over to Howard Ice Arena at 9:40, and arrive at the rink around 9:55. Please make sure your student has warm clothes such as a coat, hat and gloves. Parents can meet us at the rink if you would like. We will need lots of help tying skates! Thank you! The Winter Party will be December 22nd from 11:45-12:45. A sign up sheet will be sent shortly.  Last week, I gave students their Unit 3 Math test to make corrections. I am still waiting for a couple students to take their test, so they will be sent home this week.  This Week:  Monday: Library Tuesday: Art Wednesday: Late Start/ No special  Thursday: PE, Ice Skating Day Friday: Music- Dress like a Grinch Day  Important Dates: Late Start: 12/14, 12/21 12/22: Winter Party, Ugly Sweater Day, Holiday Concert at SJHS 9:00-11:00 12/23: Winter Break starts, No School.
