Hi families! 


Please read this letter from Mrs. Knuth:

As we prepare for our M-STEP  tests to begin next week, we would like to make you aware of important information regarding technology. Please note that during the M-STEP testing, all electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, and Bluetooth headphones (or any headphones not used for testing), must be turned off and stored away from the work area. 

Because of this, we encourage you to keep phones and smart watches at home on testing days. If your student brings one of these devices to school, the device should remain in the backpack and be powered off. Any devices that are not in backpacks will be collected by the teacher and stored in the teacher's area until testing is completed.

This week we will be taking the M-Step reading test. We will test on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10:00-12:00. Please avoid any appointments at those times. Kids may bring gum or candy, but I will keep everything at my desk to avoid problems. Please make sure kids have a healthy breakfast and bring a healthy snack on those days. Also, please make sure to send a cold water bottle each day. Thank you! 

For those of you who are interested in having your child work on math at home, last week we tested on unit 6 and moved on to unit 7 on geometry. Practice using the IXL textbook would be beneficial to understanding this new concept of lines, angles, shapes, etc. before NWEA/MStep math testing next week.

Please send kids with boots or a change of shoes for muddy days at recess. The boots/shoes can stay in student lockers so they don't have to bring them back & forth each day. 

Our student council Coins for Community fundraiser began last week. Students are encouraged to bring in any loose change they can donate to support our community. 

Sarett Field Trip: We will be going to Sarett Nature Center on Thursday, April 27th from 10:30-12:00. We will have a snack at school before we go and will be back in time for lunch. Students will explore the 4 different ecosystems that we have in Michigan. Everybody needs to dress for the weather and hiking. Parents are welcome to meet us there and join our hike! 


An email was sent home regarding the Lansing field trip. Here is the information in case you missed it. In the document, there is a link to a google form if you would like to chaperone. We currently have 5 parents signed up, and we definitely have room for some more!

Hi Families!  Conferences are this week! Students have been working so hard on their slides and are excited to present them. Students will have a print out of the self reflection form they filled out, and they will go over this with you after the conference. Due to the short time we have together and the length of the slides, I will have you finish the conference slides in the hallway if we run out of time. I will have a desk set up in the hall with some chairs for you to finish. I will save five minutes for any questions you have or anything I need to mention. Thank you for understanding! Hi families!  We had such an amazing time at the track meet on Friday. The kids did a great job and had a lot of fun! Thank you to Ashley Spies for bringing and pulling the wagon with the kids water bottles. We all appreciate you!  I would also like to thank all of the students and parents for making my first teacher appreciation week a blast! Thank you so much for all of the treats, gifts, and notes, as well as the recess duty that was covered by parents. I definitely felt very appreciated :)  NWEA Reading will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday if needed. We will begin testing at 10:00, so please try to avoid scheduling appointments around that time.   Hi families! Ice Skating Day will be this Thursday! We will start walking over to Howard Ice Arena at 9:40, and arrive at the rink around 9:55. Please make sure your student has warm clothes such as a coat, hat and gloves. Parents can meet us at the rink if you would like. We will need lots of help tying skates! Thank you! The Winter Party will be December 22nd from 11:45-12:45. A sign up sheet will be sent shortly.  Last week, I gave students their Unit 3 Math test to make corrections. I am still waiting for a couple students to take their test, so they will be sent home this week.  This Week:  Monday: Library Tuesday: Art Wednesday: Late Start/ No special  Thursday: PE, Ice Skating Day Friday: Music- Dress like a Grinch Day  Important Dates: Late Start: 12/14, 12/21 12/22: Winter Party, Ugly Sweater Day, Holiday Concert at SJHS 9:00-11:00 12/23: Winter Break starts, No School.
